Expenses and recurring bills

Expenses are the half of the ledger that runs every day. Recurring templates take the repetitive part off your hands.

Recording an expense

/expenses
Vendor
Who you paid. Required, because an uncategorised payment to nobody is not a useful record.
Amount and currency
What went out.
Account
What it came from.
Category
How it is grouped in reports.
Date
When it happened, which is what reports bucket on.
Attachment
A receipt, kept with the entry.

Rent, subscriptions and retainers can be set up once as a template with a cadence: weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual. The app creates each entry when it falls due rather than making you re-key it.

Note: Stopping a recurring template stops future entries. Entries it already created stay in your records, because they really happened.
Tip: The exchange rate for a recurring entry is resolved when the entry is created, not when the template was. A template set up in January does not stamp January rates onto a December bill.
Spending, with the recurring templates that post themselves each period.
